Aspiring rapper KJ (played by Jharrel Jerome) is struggling to make ends meet while trying to make it in the music industry in Baltimore. He works a day job at a local convenience store, where he is constantly belittled by his boss, Mason (played by Adam Driver), a racist and homophobic man who takes pleasure in tormenting KJ.

One day, after a particularly bad shift, KJ finds an edible on the floor. Desperate to escape his reality, he eats it without realizing what it is. The edible kicks in just as Mason arrives to inspect the store, causing KJ to spiral into a trippy and paranoid state.

Mason takes advantage of KJ’s vulnerable state and records him behaving erratically, planning to use the footage to get him fired. But KJ is determined to not let his dreams be crushed and comes up with a plan to outsmart Mason.

With the help of his LGBTQ+ and BIPOC friends, KJ sets out to create a viral video that exposes Mason’s racism and homophobia, using his own footage against him. As tensions rise and the stakes get higher, KJ must navigate the dangerous waters of the music industry and fight for his right to be heard.
